Items Stolen From Dreams

I have, after nearly a year of work, finished one d100 table, its been a long and arduous process and if I'm being honest I probably should have just dropped it but it feels really good to finally be done with it.

The table is an expansion of the 6 dream based items I did for my self made Inktober challenge last year.

You can download the pdf of it here for whatever price you want including free (which I recommend).

Messy Relationship Tables

Use to generate complex, messy, and partially contradictory relationships between people, results with a slash in them are relationships that are asymmetrical, when you roll it apply one side to one person and the other to the other person, if applying this to only a single person use the more active one (use envies rather than is envied by for example).

Methods for generating relationships

1 roll twice, these two traits define their relationship
2 roll once, this trait defines their relationship, then roll two more traits one for each person, these traits are exclusive to that person
3 roll twice for each person, each person's traits are exclusive to that person
4 roll thrice, these three traits define their relationship, note higher chance to make nonsensical results

Dark/risky relationships are placed at the back of the list, starting at 15, so that they can be easily removed should you wish.

1 loves, platonic
2 teaches/is taught by
3 acquaintances
4 annoys/is annoyed by
5 makes bored/is bored by
6 loves, parental/familial
7 respects
8 is friends with
9 works for/employs
10 is curious about/is the focus of curiosity by
11 depends on/is depended on
12 rivals
13 trusts
14 pities/is pitied by
15 loves, romantic
16 envies/is envied by
17 hates
18 is blackmailing/is blackmailed by
19 dominates/is submissive to
20 wants to vicariously live through/is being lived through
21 neglects/is neglected by
22 worships/is worshiped
23 traumatized/is traumatized by
24 wants to kill/may be killed by

Examples
Using only 2 people, the Fighter and the Thief.

Method 1
First roll: wants to vicariously live through/is being lived through
Second roll: rivals
The Thief is in a rivalry with the Fighter but the rivalry is really just the Thief vicariously living through the Fighter.

Method 2
First roll: trusts
Fighter roll: trusts
Thief roll: makes bored/is bored by
The Fighter and the Thief trust each other but the Fighter finds the Thief very boring.

Method 3
First Fighter roll: loves, platonic
Second Fighter roll: loves, romantic
First Thief roll: hates
Second Thief roll: envies/is envied by
The Thief does not like the Fighter and envies them, the Fighter meanwhile does like the Thief though they aren't sure if they just want to be friends or not.

Method 4
First roll: pitties/is pitied by
Second roll: neglects/is neglected by
Third roll: is blackmailing/is blackmailed by
The Fighter is being blackmailed by the Thief but it actually isn’t that bad of a secret and the Fighter mainly just pities and neglects the thief.

5e character option - Burned out

Father Midnight Oil, The Twin Candles, The Worn Grindstone, God of overwork, artists, watchmen, the manic, and all who work harder than they should. Should one call upon Father Midnight Oil he may grant upon them his greatest blessing, to be Burned out, but only to those who truly wish it upon themselves, the father is ultimately kind and selfless and would never force this upon anyone.

Born of Aether | MAGIC: THE GATHERING
Live fast by: Ryan Yee

If you are Burned out you gain the following benefits and downsides (note: these mechanics have not been playtested or balanced, I just wanted to get this idea out here).

  • Gain 5 levels (at DM's digression levels above 20 may still give you health)
  • Triple your health
  • Triple your spell slots and the number of uses you have for abilities that can be used per short or long rest
  • You cannot be healed by any means
  • Short and long rests give you no benefit
  • When you reach 0 hp you immediately die, crumbling into ash
  • Nothing can revive you, not even wish

DAY 30: RUSH

Wintergatan's wooden machine plays music with marbles
By: Wintergaten

D6 magical instruments

1 Drum of immaculate rhythm: this simple human skin drum has paintings of people playing drums on it, while this drum is played all who can hear it will be entranced doing nothing but listening, if they have or are near a drum or similar instrument they will mimic your beat.
2 Thousand year ram horn: massive horn, you need to drag it around. Blow this horn with all your might and you will be left drained and exhausted but everyone in a 100 mile radius will hear the bellow of the horn, resonating through their soul.
3 Really sharp flute: no matter how hard you try every note you play on this flute will be sharp, if you point the end of a flute and play it it acts as if you threw a dagger at them.
4 Twisting trumpet: this normal trumpet can be bent into any shape or moved by holding onto it, this cannot cause it to truly stretch, just uncurl, nor can it cause it to break open or mend itself.
5 Growing violin: this violin is of the utmost quality but is constantly growing, small twigs grow on its wooden body and must be pruned, the strings stretch out and must be re-tightened constantly.
6 Gilded bells: this set of long golden bells are immaculate, when struck the sound is never stopped, it goes through walls, cannot be stopped by magical or mundane silencers, you can always hear it no matter how loud it gets around you.

DAY 31: FIRE

Fireball Price Fifth Edition MTG
By: Mark Tedin

D6 fireballs

1 Fairyball: this spell produces a spherical explosion of pixies, brownies, and sprites, physically it does no damage but the confused fey will likely curse or annoy anyone in the area before dispersing.
2 Un-fireball: a spherical area of power is affected by un-fire, burned things are made unburned, warm things are made cold, smoke is destroyed.
3 Hireball: all sentient creatures in a sphere are made aware of employment opportunities nearby.
4 ball of everything but fire: this chaotic spell sends out a wave of mixed together elements, everything but fire. Depending on the ratio of elements this can have drastically different effects from acting like an instant sauna to covering everything in mud to giving everyone radiation poisoning.
5 sentient fireball: it can think and can target foes in a smart manner, loves to destroy stuff, if you don’t cast it to destroy things enough it may disobey your orders.
6 Spiderball: creates a blast of spiders everywhere, they shrivel up and die quickly afterwards. If this spell is used too frequently the spider gods will smite you, this does not apply if used against the enemies of the spider gods.

Overall I am happy with this set of tables, I didn't really succeed in making a coherent world with them but it was pretty fun to do.

DAY 23: CELESTIAL

Amy McCullough - Celestial Bodies: Jupiter
By: Amy Mccullough

1 Mini world: a small habitable world the size of a head, small cartoon-y people and animals inhabit it, any normal person interacting with it will be treated like a god or devil depending on what they do.
2 Cape of stars: black robe with white stars on it, while you wear this robe magic only affects you half the time but you can only see by star light.
3 Asteroid hammer: a heavy hammer, the head made of a large meteorite, if you throw the hammer it becomes covered in a sheet of fire like a meteor reentering the atmosphere.
4 Ring of the gas giant: bronze ring, in place of a gem is a swirling mass of brown gasses like Jupiter, you can use the ring to transform into a gas.
5 Black hole wand: dark metal wand ending in a spherical black gem, can cause the gem to act as a black hole by activating the wand, sucks up everything it touches but the wand.
6 Solar blade: made of gold enchanted to be as hard as steel, sun motifs on the blade, triple damage to nocturnal creatures/insomniacs/anything else connected to the night.

DAY 24: SHALLOW

Murky Water by ChewyEnnui on DeviantArt
By: ChewyEnnui

D6 treasure found at the bottom of a pond

1 severed and bloated finger, a gem encrusted ring on it
2 worn waterproof box, contains various rare spices in pouches
3 vial filled with murky liquid, drink it and you grow horns
4 dagger made of whale bone and serrated with shark teeth, ornate carvings of mermaids cover it
5 waterlogged tome, the inner pages survive showing beautiful drawings that cause the looker to become obsessed with them
6 broken lantern, can use water as oil and can be used underwater, produces a loud whale song while it burns

DAY 25: DANGEROUS

Monster Hunter - Terekjet by Fantasy-of-the-Dark on DeviantArt
By: Fantasy-of-the-Dark

D6 things that are hunting you

    1 Too many goblins
    2 The spider gods
3 A cat, it doesn't just have 9 lives, it has 9000, other than that it's just a cat
4 Divine bandits, the gods put a bounty on your head and they are here to collect
5 Giant made of lead, very slow
6 The Queen of Air and Darkness

 DAY 26: REMOVE

A Show About the Hellenistic One Per Cent | The New Yorker
Head of a Youth by some ancient person

D6 powers of removal

1 move your hand over writing, pictures, engravings, or similar details and they just disappear
2 gaze of annihilation, very slow, can completely annihilate a fist sized stones worth of material a day
3 at will can remove anything not part of your body from your body, disease, weapons, poison, food, all will be removed for better or worse
4 your touch instantly annihilates a random uncommon substance, examples would be honey, feathers, or ashes
5 focus on nothing and clap your hands together, all nearby light sources will be extinguished
6 you can remove yourself from reality at will, note that you cannot un-remove yourself

 DAY 27: BEAST

Plant Creatures
By: Keymonster

D6 plant mutations for wild animals

1 One eye is replaced with a blooming flower, they can still see out of it, a few flowers also sprout sporadically around their body, a sweet smell always follows them and they can animate plants at will
2 Fur replaced with something similar to grass, if it doesn't have fur grass covers it anyways, very resilient, regenerates
3 any horn/antler the creature has replaced with tree like version, if it doesn't have horns it grows tree like horns, surprisingly strong, marks it as a leader, has 1d4+1 other animals with it
4 roots grow from its body, its stuck in the ground but very durable, has 2d6+2 other animals with it, it has druidic magic though none that will let it move or transform
5 Moss covers its body, underneath it is made of stone, very hard to hurt, bludgeoning weapons work best
6 A small bonsai like tree grows from its head, its mouth hangs slack jawed, cannot feel pain or fear, much dumber than an average member of is species

 DAY 29: MASSIVE

The capture of a Brain Bug from Starship Troopers | Starship troopers, Starship troopers bugs, Starship troopers 1997
From Starship troopers

D6 giant insects and their personality

1 Giant spider: very faithful, solitary worshipers as spiders rarely work together, most spiders revere all spider gods to some extent though some worship only one spider god and forsake all others, seeing them as false.
2 Giant centipede: bastards that like to scare people, can be hired to torment your enemies, any deal made with them is slightly risky, treat them like mini demons.
3 Giant bee: brainwashed like in 1984, utterly loyal to the hive, hates anything that goes against it, wary of things that are not a part of the hive but willing to work as long as they don’t go against the hive. The brainwashing is biological so only changing their biology or using strong magic can make them go against the hive.
4 Giant mosquito: wine aficionados, each species and individual has a unique taste, will pay a king's ransom for truly rare or unique blood.
5 Giant butterfly: beautiful gardeners, do not like ugly things, grow fields of flowers to live in.
6 Giant moth: obsessed with light and fire even though they know it will hurt or kill them, many are artists, some weirder giant moths may be obsessed with things other than fire/light.
